How Kinow helps film festivals set up their 2020 editions online

2020/05/27

During this period of confinement, it must be said that a great deal of thought has gone into finding solutions, particularly for the cultural and 7th art sectors.

Indeed, the agenda of film releases, like that of festivals, is configured on a case-by-case basis, and pushes these actors to reflect on new content, new experiences to offer to spectators... in order to maintain their editions digitally.

Kinow is committed to deploying several online solutions and propelling the festivals into a new form, in the absence of their annual physical edition. This way, these festivals can offer alternatives to their visitors, whether regulars or just curious, so that they can access this year's selection.

Kinow has always had in its DNA to develop thematic video platforms, offering a turnkey service for the implementation and administration of VOD (video on demand) solutions for specialized media such as Tënk, LaCinetek, L’agence du court métrage… Virtual festivals are part of this lineage.

To date, the Kinow team is proud to have been able to broadcast the Aubagne International Film Festival, which took place from March 30 to April 4, entirely on free VOD. Soon, new 100% digital platforms will see the light of day, including Champs-Élysées Film Festival (June 9-16, 2020), Annecy International Animation Film Festival (June 15-30, 2020), Le court en dit long Festival  (June 1-6, 2020) and Monstra Festival in Lisbon (May 11-June 7, 2020).

Aubagne International Film Festival

Since 2000, Alcimé has been organising the Aubagne International Film Festival, which promotes young cinematographic creation and musical creation for the image. The implementation of this double artistic orientation is ensured by the articulation of four complementary and indissociable actions: supporting the international diffusion of first works, offering a training space, promoting the cultural diversity and being a place of education to the image. The Festival's specificity today offers a major showcase for international image and music professionals. More information.

School and workshop films, self-produced films or films supported by the Centre du Cinéma et de l'Audiovisuel de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, animated and fiction films, the polymorphism of formats is in the spotlight and is part of this creative momentum.

Through a resolutely multidisciplinary programme open to innovative territories, the Centre ensures the promotion in France of emerging or confirmed talents from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation with a view to optimising their distribution in France.  More information.
