The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival is to date the most important world film event dedicated to short films, organised since 1981 by the association Sauve qui peut le court métrage.
As the current period is not conducive to gatherings and packed theatres, the organising team wished to maintain its 2021 edition by betting on a 100% online version thanks to the Kinow solution.
The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, a must-see event
Animation masterpieces, comedies, contemporary realities, genre films, graduation works from the best schools in the world, documentaries: the short film reveals itself in all its richness and diversity in Auvergne and in the heart of winter. Every year, more than 400 films (including more than 150 in official competition) are shown in cinemas during the festival, attracting more than 170,000 spectators in 2020.
Alongside the festival, the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market has also become the number one meeting place for the short film industry at international level, bringing together no less than 3,500 professionals each year.
The Clermont FilmFest, a platform created with a tailor-made solution
In order to make the festival accessible to the whole of France, and to let the viewers enjoy the festival at their own pace, the association Sauve qui peut le court métrage turned to our entirely modular solution.
In terms of content organisation, the platform is adapted to the short film competition. Indeed, it will be possible to gather the films in competition within the same programme with an automatic linking of the shorts in the same programme. Nearly 70 hours of films will therefore be divided into 31 programs, classified in 3 competitions, as well as around ten complementary programmes.
The association has decided to offer a pass giving access to the programmes online for the duration of the festival, with a limit of one viewing per film. The platform will be opened to the public during the event, however the winning films will be accessible for an additional week.
With a lead time of only 2 months, the Kinow solution has enabled the deployment of a platform that meets the needs of the festival, allowing it to adapt to the changes that are disrupting the event. The fully online solution will allow the greatest number of people to enjoy a highly anticipated event in the world of cinema and more particularly short films.
Kinow provides a cloud solution to help media, broadcasters and distributors deploy and enhance their own live and on-demand streaming platform. Kinow is one of the most advanced OVP (Online Video Platform) platforms on the market and brings together all the technologies needed to manage a free or paid OTT video service, live or on-demand. Since its launch in 2015, Kinow has deployed nearly 300 platforms worldwide. A few examples of Kinow clients: the platforms Bref (short film), Tënk (documentary), LaCinetek (author films) and the film distributors Carlotta, Shellac and Saje.
